In his book “Crescent and Star”, Stephen Kinzer presents a picture of Turkey as a country poised on the edge of a significant global opportunity. In the book, he gives some historical perspective on the country, particularly highlighting its modern ‘founding father’ - Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (1881-1938).He referenced one quote from Ataturk that I resonated with: “History has proven incontrobertibly that success in great enterprises requires the presence of a leader of unshakable capacity and power.” This is one reason why I love Jesus so much. The great enterprise of reconciliation between God and humanity and also of humanity with each other, required so much ‘unshakable capacity and power’ that it took Jesus to the cross. And I love him for it. It is one of the proofs of Jesus’ leadership superiority.
