Surgery updates
Thurs.5:06am - Vero & her mom left for the hospital. Isa’s still sleeping. I’ll wait until she gets up before I go to the hospital.
7:11am - I’m up, but Isa is still asleep. Vero’s surgery is supposed to start at 7:30am. Our friends Gabi, who takes care of Isa, just showed up. I’m going to grab something to eat & head out. If all goes well, the surgery should only take 2 hours, so I’ll get an update from the doctor after its done.
8:20am - Got to the hospital, checked in the reception area. Started waiting process.
12:30pm - Dr. Mark, the surgeon, came out. She said that the surgery was pretty difficult because of the size of the cysts, and the scar tissue from the last surgery in 2003. That’s why her surgery was almost 4 hours long! The good news, however, was that she was able to completely remove both cysts via the laproscopy. Praise God - no incision!! Vero was in the post-op, so they would call me when she went to the short-term recovery room before discharge. Continued my waiting.
2:00pm - They call me to go up to the 4th floor to see Vero in the recovery room. But when I get up there, she hasn’t been taken there yet. More waiting.
3:33pm - They finally wheel Vero into the recovery room. She is still pretty drugged up, but in very good spirits. They are giving her an IV, since she wasn’t supposed to eat any solid foods for 24hrs before the surgery. She needs to pee in order to be discharged.
6:55pm - On our 2nd attempt, Vero is finally able to pee a wee bit. Enough for the discharge.
7:38pm - The attendant with a wheelchair finally comes to wheel Vero - all dressed & out of her hospital robe - out to the car.
Praise God for the answer to prayer!!! Please continue to pray for Vero over the next 2 weeks as she recovers.
