Moved up!
Got a call today from Erika at the East LA Regional Center. We weren’t scheduled to have Isa’s intake evaluation for therapy & services until the 24th, but they had a cancellation for tomorrow morning!!! This is great. We had met on Saturday with an O.T. friend of ours (thanks Judy & Dan) to be able to start exercises for Isa to strengthen her neck, loosen her arm muscles & stimulate the re-tooling/ learning in her brain as much as possible.
We are doing stretches with her 3 times a day, working on “tummy-time” to strengthen her neck, plus stimulating her tongue/mouth, sensitising her arms & legs to help with the sensory integration issues, and then continuing to enjoy her smiles & laughs. We are feeling hopeful about her development, even in the midst of being tired from all of the news & the changes required to help her out at this stage. Plus, she is pretty tired from all of the exercise!
Plus, I spoke yesterday with Judith Harris from the Junior Blind. They were recommended to us by Isa’s neurologist. It turns out that they are a vender for the Regional Center. She is going to send me some information and hopefully they’ll be the ones we are referred to.
I’ll have more to share after our evaluation tomorrow. Please be praying for the evaluation & the recommendation for services. The more that Isa qualifies for, the better, at this stage of her brain’s development. The key areas that we are hoping to see development are in her neck (holding it up consistently,) and in the use of her arms (to reach for & be able to grab at objects on her own).

Hey Scott,
Just wanted you to know you, your wife and beautiful daugther are being prayed for across the world (Sweden to be specific). I clicked on your website expecting a perhaps heart-wrenching update, then came across Demotivators, which had me in hysterics for a good five minutes. Glad you’re playing hoops again. Just rebound and pass out to those who like to shoot–you’ll be loved, trust me. Sweden update coming soon–been here a week now.

I was wondering who was reading my blog from Sweden. Glad to hear you are settling in. And thanks for the B-ball advice.
