The “I’m back” log

After a 45 minute flight delay, I got picked up at from LAX last night around midnight. It was great 2-trip to visit with Susan and Hope and Joshua, and also to see my friend Scott. Here are a few other bullet-points from the trip:
- • On the flight up & back, I read 100 pages of 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I had read this book way back the summer before my first year at Oxy. I still love the magical realism of the book. He knows how to tell a good story.
- • The car I rented had Sirius radio. Of the over 100 channels of Howard Stern, hip-hop, Blues, bluegrass, and every other style of music, I was disappointed that there were only 3 Spanish music stations - and 1 of the 3 was pure banda. No thanks.
- • Resonated with the lyrics “salvame de la oscuridad” - don’t know the artist.
- • Talked about The World is Flat with Scott on Thursday night. He runs a medical transcription company and hires people in the Phillipines as employees.
- • Despite my generally predictable pattern of ordering the “same-old-thing,” I ate Huevos Bendictos - a variation of Eggs Bendict - at Hogees restaurant.
- • New Spanglish word - “burritoria.” I’d never seen that one before.
- • Read an interesting article in the San Jose Mercury - Business section - about executive pay. Worth the read.
- • Went shopping at Target, but while I left my cart to pick up one last item, some employee (probably) took my cart & all my stuff. Had to go back through the store to find everything.
