Stories, thoughts & insights on Jesus, college students, and the Bible; Los Angeles, immigration, politics, ethnicity and culture, and also about my daughter Isabel - from a spanglish gringo father living in, learning from, leading & loving life in East L.A.

Eddy - I watched the Gregory Peck version in black and white, though I think I've seen parts of the techno-color remix.

Tom - My bad. I just watched it again, since I read the book back in high school for the first time & have seen the movie before. That is why it is such a classic - stands the test of time.

I'm curious, though, since I've never known that the book/movie so shaped a generation. How so?

Sort of surprising that someone would just be seeing it for the first time. But the again I'm pushing 50. Both book and film shaped my gen in the deepest way.

Couldn't agree with you more. A rare moment when both book and film reach a truly classic level.
