I found this sobering post last night while doing a google search - “More disabled children are being raised by single moms” - based on an article from MSNBC.com.

Considering this, do these kids - and any others that have been left by one parent to be cared for solely by the other - count as orphans in the injunction that James gives about how “Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us.”?
