Mario, Emmitt, Monique or Joey??? plus…

UPDATE:What a fun performance to watch live. While Mario continues to be a strong performer, I think the surprise front-runner right now is Emmitt Smith. I overheard someone in the audience shrewdly observe that he is the only non entertainer/actor in the last several rounds, but he has such a natural charisma. You get that watching him on TV, but even more so watching him live.
But most of my votes tonight went to Monique. I think she has a double competition, since not only does she have to compete as the only woman remaining against the male celebrities, but in reality she also really has to compete against the female professional dancers in a way that just isn’t true for the male celebrities. Go Monique!
UPDATE #2: This may sound crazy, but when I got back from the Dancing with the Stars taping, I changed out of my suit & tie and changed into my “Its-opening-night-for-the-Lakers” attire to watch the Lakers come from behind to trounce the Phoenix Suns 114-106. After giving up 41 points in the 1st quarter, the Lakers decided to get serious on the defensive end and only allowed 65 points the rest of the way.
Most impressive was Andrew Bynum’s coming out party. He had something like 16 pts and 9 boards, but his aggressiveness and hustle were inspiring. He did great and the team did great despite not having Kobe on the floor. If this is for real, then the Laker’s could make a serious move up the playoff tree in a already strong Western Conference.

Let’s not forget about Jordan Farmar doing pretty well first time out. 2 TOs isn’t so great, but 3-3 from the field with an assist is pretty sweet for a guy who may not have even made the 15-man squad.
Go, Bruins!
