that’s my uncle

I got an email from my uncle Joel last week announcing his selection as the new rector at an Episcopalian church in Santa Cruz. While Santa Cruz is only 4-5 hours from Southern California where my uncle grew up, his ministry journey has taken in through France, Algeria, Sweden, Tunisia, Morrocco and then most recently through the central valley. Anyway, congratulations Joel. Maybe we’ll make it up there to visit sometime soon.

You’ve got several ministers in the family, huh?!

And in addition to my mom being a pastor, my grandmother was a “priest” (”priestess?”) for a Rosicrucian group for 20 odd years (and odd years. Even my wife’s father was training to be a Catholic priest - wow!, praise God that didn’t happen. I don’t know the ministry history of my family beyond that, but it wouldn’t surprise me to discover more.

I’m the uncle. We are all very excited about this new stage in our life. Almost too good to be true to live at a vacation spot. If you don’t come Scott, I don’t know what I can do to entice you. At some point we will learn that the parish is made up of very human persons and we are all very human ourselves. What we have going for us is a God who specializes in very human people.
Peace and blessings
