paid in full
Just yesterday I recieved a letter in the mail “to inform you that as of 11/20/2006 your No-Interest Loans have been satisfied with Occidental College. Thank you for paying your loans in full and please use this as your confirmation that the above listed accounts have been satisfied.”
Woohoo!!!
I remember the pressue I felt graduating 10 1/2 years ago with almost $38,000 in college loans - and somehow wanting to be involved in full-time ministry. Having paid off $18,000 in my first 2 years out - and saving over $8,000 in interest by doing it - it is nice to have finished off the deal. And at No-Interest, that has to be the best $20,000 loan I’ll ever get.
Now if I could just get one of those for my mortgage…

Congrats! My gen got so much government help that few of us had any debt at all. Political leaders in those days thought higher education was a great investment in the economic and cultural future of the country. Times have changed.

I know. And on both sides. I know students that throw away opportunities in college ’cause they can make more selling phones at Verizon, or who just pass the time in college, really believing the MTV cribs life will magically find them just around the next corner.
Though I never thought about dropping out and generally had an “easy” experience in college, I was able to realize at graduation what an accomplishment it was. Didn’t get that perspective ’til the end. Try to pass it onto my students to help get them there.

I am so happy and so proud of you!!! I know that sometimes it feels like these loans will never get paid. My loans are my biggest debt and it is discouraging to see how much more I have to pay. It seems like I will be paying for my school for the rest of my life. thanks for the encouragement that it is possible to be school loan debt free.
Again, congratulations it is definately a load off.
with all my love,
Lizbeth
