Spanglish Gringo
Stories, thoughts & insights on Jesus, college students, and the Bible; Los Angeles, immigration, politics, ethnicity and culture, and also about my daughter Isabel - from a spanglish gringo father living in, learning from, leading & loving life in East L.A.
I went yesterday afternoon to take some photos from the observatory. I remember going there as a kid, but its only a foggy memory. But yesterday was beautiful. Great for taking photos.
It was a little dark because of the cloud cover, but the view was incredible and the sky was crystal clear - you could see out to Catalina. I’m still working on my “pet” photo project of taking pictures of downtown LA. So there is probably no greater vantage point for the entire LA basin than the observatory.
These photos are from my digital camera. I need to develop the ones I took with my 35mm. Plus, I didn’t even go inside. It has been fully renovated, along with some pretty nice additions (all underground.) I’m coming back for sure, though I’ll probably bring my scientifically-minded wife. I think she’d love it.
I’m liking the new look. Though, you know your sidebar’s colliding with the main content, right? On my Firefox browswer at least. It’s not a problem when looking at just one post page, though.

I can’t wait to get over there.

And I like your blog title’s font, too.

The Observatory view of the LA Basin is one of my lifetime favorites. What a city!

Scott, the fotos look great! Would you be willing to email me the two you posted? Does friendship supercede the copyright fees?
