Call out to any & all Latino alumni of InterVarsity

Abner Ramos and I are beginning to get our bearings for several La Fe projects we’d like to develop in the coming months. One involves a La Fe network of Latino alumni from IV chapters in the greater Los Angeles, many of whom don’t even know what La Fe is or that they are La Fe alumni. (*La Fe is InterVarsity’s Latino ministry, aka La Fe or The Faith. It also is short for Latino Fellowship.)
So Abner & I are putting out this call on our blogs:
One of our goals is to begin contacting LaFe alumni in the region to let them know what God has been doing here in the past five years. Things have changed a lot, to the point where the LaFe ministry needs people who are dedicating time to it as part of their job description. Before this year, LaFe was something that Abner & I did as an add on to everything else that needed to get done on our campuses. We realized that if we continued that way, we would burn out, and LaFe would never grow.
Here’s are some options for what we can do in the next 6 months:
1) Create a LaFe Advisory Committee made up of LaFe alum and people who are interested in Latino student ministry. This committee would meet four times a year to talk about and plan the implementation of our vision (Staff development and recruitment, Student leadership and outreach, Alumni networking and fundraising).
2) Create a volunteer system to give LaFe alumni opportunities to do ministry with Intervarsity without having to come on full-time or do the 20-hour intern thing. We know a lot of people who would love to work with Latino students in the division, but who can only give 2-6 hours a week. We could have them come to a LaFe staff meeting every two weeks, and give them a chance at mentoring a LaFe leader and helping develop LaFe at some of our key campuses.
Here’s how else my readers can help:
1) Forward this post to any LaFe alumni you know.
2) If you are a LaFe alumnus, and would love to be part of what God is doing in Los Angeles, contact me ASAP.
3) Email me the names of all the LaFe alumni who you think might be interested in moving the vision forward.

I’m not a LaFe alumni, but I would love to help in any way re: educating about finances and investing and stuff. I’ve done some talks for staff at IV as well as Servant Partners. =) And if that’s not what you’re looking for, that’s fine, too!
