Bruins, Buckeyes, Badgers & Hoyas
I’m riding the #2’s into this year’s Final Four. I won’t reveal who I’ve gotten going all the way yet, but I’m looking forward to some great basketball games this weekend and the rest of the month.
P.S. All of the talk this time of year is about “your office pool.” I was starting to feel sorrow that the downside of being on staff was not having any office to have a pool with. Until yesterday, when I discovered that my “office” of staff peers was having a pool. Woohoo!
UPDATE: I picked VCU in the upset over Duke, but I’m actually a little shocked that it happened. I didn’t really know anything about VCU, but I thought Duke played awful this year.

It’s more sorrowful having an office that specifically outlaws office pools for March Madness. Boo.

You know, I picked VCU too for much the same reasons. Josh McRoberts was nowhere near the dominant player that everyone was predicting.

Sweet to see the PAC-men get three into the Sweet 16. Should have had 4 if Wazzoo hadn’t tightened up against Vanderbilt.
Not surprised by SC’s showing at all. They’re just thumpin’ people. The Big 12 was overrated this year (except for Kansas and A&M) so not shocked that Texas went down so easily.
How good a coach is Howland? He’s got a team that forgot how to shoot 3 weeks ago and they still make the Sweet 16. Still, UCLA is just plain hard to watch–ugly, ugly basketball.
My detailed and semi-contrarian pics for the next two weekends:
Midwest: Florida over Butler then UNLV (love the Ducks but liking the Runnin’ Rebs even more right now)
West: Kansas over Southern Illinois then UCLA (I actually think Pitt may beat UCLA since UCLA’s in such a shooting slump, but I’ve gotta go with the Bruins out of loyalty’s sake :^)
East: Georgetown over Vandy then SC (yes, the Trojans pull of the huge upset and knock out the Heels!)
South: Texas A&M over Memphis and then Ohio State. I’m going way out of a limb here, but I think A&M has some of the best guards in the tournament and I like their discipline. Memphis is very athletic but out of control and I’m not that impressed with Ohio State. I thought Xavier was better and the Buckeyes were very lucky to advance.
