But its not all bad either. Case in point - this story from the LA Times West magazine about Boyle Heights. The tamale lady isn’t made up - I hear her every few days in the evenings and usually sometime on Saturdays.

I was in Boyle Heights for the first time last week, to visit a patient. It was a really good experience - I really enjoyed the culture. People really seemed to know each other - it was lunchtime and tons of people were sitting outside eating together. I love the colors on the buildings too. There was a strong community, hospitable feel there, very different from the standard white suburb I live in. Is that your experience there?
I really wish I had the time to get lunch from a taco truck though.
