Mid-east bound

No, I’m not parachuting into Bagdad. But I am leaving today to visit a student ministry we’ve built a partnership in a Muslim country in the mid-east. While I’m gone, I’d appreciate your prayers:

• Pray for Veronica & Isabel: Fortunately, Veronica just finished her school year on Friday, so she has the summer off. But this will be my longest trip away since we’ve had Isa, and Isa’s routine still requires a lot of energy. In particular, pray for good sleep - for both of them.
• Pray for our travel: We leave Los Angeles this afternoon, and we won’t stop traveling until we tomorrow night. I’m traveling with another staff partner and his wife and their daughter. So it won’t be a boring trip. Pray for safety in going and returning, and for a good connection during our time in country.
• Pray for the student ministry we are visiting: I’m excited about what we’ll learn and how we’ll be able to come alongside the ministry in this Muslim context. Obviously, I imagine there will be a lot about student ministry that is done very differently here, though I also imagine there will be surprising similarities as well. This is a very strategic time as the ministry here is making some significant changes in their context for reaching students with the gospel. Pray that we are a help to them.
• Pray for the new baby: My best friend is a missionary here and he and his wife just had a baby boy 2-3 weeks ago. I’m very excited about the opportunity to serve them in this season of new parenthood. Pray for the baby’s continued health, and their transition (ie. little sleep) to being parents.P.S. I’ve intentionally not mentioning the country we’re going for the sake of the ministry that we are going to serve. I’m actually not clear about what kind of specific details I can share, but unless you here more from me, let your curiosity be refocused in prayer for them and for this trip. Thanks.

Dear Scott,
I will be praying for you and Veronica and Isa, and for your ministry to the Muslims. Lots of love to you and your family. Howard will be away three weeks looking after his mother in Michigan, and the two Howard’s are planning to go to Bejing in August for an international Kung Fu tournament and to make a documentary film.
Love,
Betsy
