Texting while driving

While Vero, Isa & I were driving [read = very slowly moving] through traffic up the 101 on Sunday to visit my mom in Port Hueneme, we saw not just one, but several drivers like this one in their cars.

I’ve zeroed in, just in case you didn’t catch it.

What I’m not sure is this - which is more frightening: that they [both passenger and driver] are texting while driving… in traffic mind you; or that instead of enjoying live conversation with the person next them in real time on a road trip, that they’re enraptured by the illusion of human connection via texting with someone in another place and, depending on when they recieve & respond to the text, in another time.

I think it is interesting that you guys had the time/chance to find these crazies and take their pictures! But if traffic is bad on the 101… been there done that.
It is an interesting commentary on relationships. My Scott and I read books aloud - Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, etc.

We laughed/scoffed when we saw the first car with both people texting. But after seeing 3-4, we felt like calling the CHP.
As for reading, my grandmother used to read to us on road-trips. I don’t know how she did it without getting sick, but I love the memories & still remember the book she read to us. It was very bonding.

Guilty as charged.

And in New York, no less. I can’t imagine traffic is better than in LA. ;0
